Girl, Stop Doing These 7 Things to Your Hair!

A hairstylist's job is not only to make you look good but to keep your hair healthy. So, why are so many women doing bad things to their locks? Here are 10 things that professional hairstylists are begging women NOT to do to their hair:

#1 - Cutting your own hair - it's difficult even for a hairstylist to cut their own hair. Stop whacking away at your locks. It makes it more difficult for your hairstylist to maintain your style. Keep haircutting and trimming to the professionals.

#2 - Stop buttering your hair - many black women think shea butter and coconut oil can be used on their hair. But unless you know what you're doing you'll end up with a greasy hot mess. Your hairstylist can recommend moisturizing products for your hair that will not break the bank.

#3 - Don't color your own hair - this is a big one. Color is tricky, so leave it to professionals.

#4 - Don't neglect weaves and extensions - they are not meant to last forever. Make sure you are visiting your hairstylist to have them removed.

#5 - Avoid greasy scalp and hair treatments - are a real mess for your hairstylist to deal with. Use products that don't clog pores.

#6 - Don't wait to have your hair trimmed - not trimming your hair regularly can add to hair breakage and split ends.

#7 - Trust your hairstylist, not YouTube - hey, YouTube doesn't know what's best for your hair. Your professional hairstylist does.
